5-Month Well Baby Check-Up

At this visit, we were told that my weight has gone down from the 75th to the 50th percentile. Still good and within the normal range. I am now 16 lbs and 12 oz and also 26 inches "tall".

Everything is looking good. Got another 3 shots for HiB, Prevnar and Hepatitis B.

Sleeping Pogi

Took this shot a few minutes after putting you down to sleep. You're my little sleeping pogi, Baby Joaquin! Look how peaceful you look. I had to stop myself from kissing you lest I woke you up!

Baby Einstein

And so the time has come that another one of Ate Sam's cool stuff gets passed on to me. She got this play center around the same age as me ---> check here

Heard she enjoyed it a lot. I think I will too...

UPDATE: November 22, 2008 - Yes, Joaquin. You really LOVE your play center. You can stay there for extended periods of time. Your favorites are: the caterpillar (which you pull towards you and gnaw on the different balls) and the book (which you also like chewing on the edges).

Chubby Cheeks?

Don't you just want to pinch these cheeks?!?!?! ;) Thankfully, although I know my cheeks are pinchable, Mom and Dad have been very vigilant and protective making sure no one touches these precious babies! ;)

Bonding with Sis

Mom is excited for the time sis and I can actually play together. That sure would make watching us a whole lot easier, I bet!

Mom Goes Back to Work

Dearest Baby Joaquin,

I had one of the best times ever from about the month before your arrival until the day I started work on August 25. Not only did I get a chance to have some one-on-one time with your Ate Sam, but I was also able to spend the first 4 months of your life with you at home. Full time! ;)

Those 4 months went by so fast. One thing that remained consistent was how calm and happy you were. From day one, you never kept me or Dad up at night. You were a good observer and just liked listening to the sounds around you.

You also filled out really fast. I loved kissing your cheeks and your arms and legs. They were so chubby and soft and smooth. Cherishing every moment, hoping that when you grow older, you'll still let me kiss and hug you.

Going back to work was both very exciting and sad for me. I was glad to re-join the workforce becaue being a lawyer is part of who I am and makes me happy. But I was also really sad because I will not have as much time to spend with you and your sister. I would definitely miss our times lazying in bed in our pajamas. Watching cartoons during the day. Taking naps in the afternoon and then walks outside later in the day. It was going to be a challenge but I knew I was up for it.

The good news too is that my new job is really as close to a dream job as I can wish for at this point. So although it saddens me that my little extended maternity leave had to end, I am looking forward to this new adventure. I knew I would be better Mom for you and your sister and I wanted that gift to give to you both.

I love you so much, Joquinsky!!!
:)mom

p.s. - you can also be proud to say that out of this extended leave I got, you've been breastfed EXCLUSIVELY for 4 months! ;)

Teethers and Drool

This teether is really one of my favorites. It's made of plastic and rubber which is a nice texture when I sink my gummy little mouth in it. Believe me! I've gotten to be quite the expert on teethers ;)
