My First Thanksgiving

Spent it at Tita Bo's and Ate Lyk's house. Quite uneventful for me because I could not eat table foods yet. Most of the time I was being passed around from one tita to the next or from one lola to the other :) Other times, I was just in my car seat enjoying the view.

Momsy Goes Back to Manila

Mommy said that Momsy was really glad she was able to come here for my baptism and spend some time with me at this age. I heard that Lolo Pops and Tita Aussy were jealous at Momsy and Ninong Bondy since they both got to see me and play with me and hug me while I was still this little as opposed to later on this year when we go visit the Philippines (in December when I'll be about 18 months old and learning to walk and cruise :)

Momsy sang "Itsy-bitsy Spider" and "This Little Piggy" to me a lot while she was here. She also told my Mom that she was amazed how at this early age, I am able to keep my focus as she would read and finish an entire book to me. And how observant I was of people and of my surroundings. Hmmm. Interesting.

I look forward to seeing Momsy again very soon!

p.s. here I am with Ate Sam playing. You can hear Momsy in the background :)

Food Foray

I'm a good eater. I've tried almost everything that I'm supposed to: rice, oatmeal, squash, carrots, peas, green beans, sweet potatoes, chicken, beef, turkey, pears, prunes, applesauce, peaches, pear juice, prune juice and white grape juice.

Mom doesn't want to give me bananas yet, though, because she thinks it will make me constipated. Hmmm.

Anyway, my favorite foods right now are pears with or without oatmeal and squash paired with anything! :)

Here I am on my seat just chillin' after a good brunch.

Supported Sitter

I am now able to sit with support. I can still fall backwards or sideways so whoever is watching me needs to surround me with pillows or other soft things to cushion my fall. Overall, Mommy says my development is on the right track ;)

Me and My Sis

Mommy said that Ate Sam can't wait for me to grow bigger. Right now, she loves playing with me already. She hugs me a lot and tickles me just to hear me laugh.

Sharing toys and books is another story and is still a real challenge for us both. Although I have to say, Ate Sam is getting better at it each day ;)

Mommy can only hope that we continue to be this nice to each other as we grow older.

To the Cool Kid...

My little baby boy is one of the "coolest" little kids around. I'd like to believe your temperament is from me as you're always just quiet, observant, and smiling :)

You like being read books and having songs sung to you.

You hardly ever cry when you want something and usually just let us know how you feel with a few grunts and squirms here and there.

We've still been able to leave you in this blue rocker for short periods of time, although I wonder when you'll get tired of this and "ask" to be put in something else.

You're really such a sweetie pie, baby Joaqs. I love it when we lock gazes and you give me your gummy smile. I love kissing your cheeks and your neck and stomach and promise myself I will keep on doing this while you still don't have a care in the world. While you're still my little baby boy. And before you go to the next phase of "cool" and ask me to stop.

Joaquin Santino

Dearest Baby Joaquin,

Today, you were baptized and welcomed in the Christian Catholic world!

You looked quite dapper in your little barong shirt from Momsy. At the Church, you were very well-behaved and did not wake up from your sleep or cry during the actual ceremony when oil and water were poured over your head.

Many guests came from all over. Most notably were Momsy and Ninong Bondy from Manila, Ninang Ebeng from Wisconsin, and Ninang Joy and Ate Alex from Placerville. You also had guests who drove down from San Jose, Modesto, and Oxnard. Mom and Dad were surprised at the turnout. By reception time, there was a total of about 75 people who graced this special affair. Not to mention all the great gifts you received from everyone! ;) Clothes, toys, books and cash!

One of the most notable things during the entire day was that you never cried or threw a tantrum! You went with anyone who carried you and smiled back at whoever flashed one your way. I think that impressed most of your guests.

I was most thankful at having you in our lives and completing our little family of four. You and your sis make Dad and me the happiest and proudest parents around!

I love you, Joaqs!

More Play Time

Ate Sam plays with me a lot. I think she likes being a big sis to me :) Mommy says Ate can hardly wait for me to start walking and talking, now that's when the real fun starts! ;)
